A conflict-free diamond is a diamond that’s mined and shipped without connection to rebel or terror groups. Procedures and agreements like The Kimberley Process are in place to guarantee that diamonds are mined and shipped according to certain ethical standards.

The Kimberley Process is a multilateral trade regime established in 2003 with the goal of preventing the flow of conflict diamonds. The core of this regime is the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme under which States implement safeguards on shipments of rough diamonds and certify them as “conflict-free”.

The Responsible Jewellery Council was Founded in 2005, and is the world’s leading standard-setting organisation for the jewellery and watch industry. They promote standards that underpin people’s trust in the worldwide jewellery and watch supply chain.
